Online Geological Drawing

With assorted handheld stones and agate slabs as our guides, this workshop combines close sensory observation of geological specimens with the act of mindful drawing. Each drawing we do presents a different way of seeing and marking, working across specimens and techniques. Participants receive a kit of diverse geological specimens and all art materials for the session

Whether you’re an experienced artist or are just starting out, this is an opportunity to create intimate artworks that reflect the rich natural environment that surrounds us. No previous drawing experience is required, just a curiosity about exploring natural geological forms and diverse materials through close observation and engaged markmaking.

Online Geological Drawing

Fully interactive workshops focus on seeing the color, texture, form and nuance of a range of handheld stones, creating images in wet and dry media.

Your kit includes high-quality, brand-name art supplies and a range of rough and tumbled stones and slabs, chosen for their unique visual qualities.

We combine centuries of investigations into color and mineralogy in our conversations, and apply that history to the stones we see, touch, and draw.

We share a range of observational drawing techniques to hone perception of form and color. Drawings move flexibly between realism and abstraction.
